“My Baby First Steps” for Wii* or DS & WIN!
I don’t often get a chance to play the Wii cause my kids take it over, but when I was asked to play and review the new game “My Baby First Steps” I was excited to try it out.
The game is rated E for Everyone, so I set it up and decided to play it while the big kids were at school and my daughter who is 4 played with me.
Following in the footsteps of My Baby Boy or Girl, My Baby: First Steps continues the journey of raising a baby at 15-months-old. You will get the challenging, yet very rewarding, task of teaching their baby how to walk, talk and more.
With so many games for girls out that send the wrong message, My Baby: First Steps lets little girls play baby dolls in a tech-savvy, 21st century way. The game is available just in time for the holiday season.
The graphics are really cute. My daughter loved playing with the “realistic baby doll” on the Wii. I love watching the baby grow into a toddler. It shows kids how much work, time, and patience goes into growing up a baby. It enabled me to explain to my daughter that babies aren’t born walking, and that it takes love, encouragement, and work to teach babies to crawl and walk. Now don’t get me wrong, this is NOTHING like raising a real baby, but it did make my 4 yr. old understand a little better how hard it can be to be a mommy, on a 4 yr. old scale.
You can customize this game allowing you to chose your babies sex, appearance, or you can let the game surprise you, which is what I did to make it a little more interesting. We got a baby girl who was blond with green eyes 
I allowed my daughter to name her and she picked “Chloe” which was cute. You can also take trips to the virtual baby store and buy new outfits for your baby and toys and more for your baby. You can also capture pictures along the way to show others your babies growing moments.
Be sure to pay close attention to your baby though cause it will let you know when it needs fed, changed, or sleep.
There is a doctor guide and other helpers along the way. This game retails for $29.99 and is available for the Wii or DS platforms. You can learn more by visiting www.mybabyvillage.com .
Now I must be truthful here, I have always been a baby doll kind of gal and I would never suggest to have your daughters play with this instead of her baby dolls, but it does give baby dolls a 21st century twist, and it is very much fun to play. I loved spending the time with my daughter to play this and we had some great talks from it. This would make a great gift and addition to any little girls DS or Wii collection.
