Weekly Weigh In Week 4 – #NSDiet15 #transformationinprogress (spon)
July 30, 2010 by theplus
Well, last week I wasn’t too happy at all with my 4 pound gain at weigh in. This however is a new week, and I am excited to say, not only did I lose back the 4 pounds, but I lost another 2 pounds with it, giving me a 6 pound loss for the week!!! YIPPEE!!! I was so pleased today when I stepped onto the scale. It made me feel a whole lot better and also gave me more emotional strength to keep on keepin on!
I got my new shipment of food today too. Which I was allowed to choose from. And It all looks so wonderful! I really enjoy being on this diet and eating great food. So far the only items I wasn’t too thrilled with were spicy or like bean soup kinds, but I don’t usually eat those so that is just from my palate of taste. I am sure people who love spicy foods would really like these selections.
I am more of a fruit, granola, and peanut butter kind of babe. The Blueberry muffins and peanut and cranberry granola bars are to die for! I also have loved being able to eat the pasta meals. I truthfully was scared to try the turkey hot dog at first, but once I tried it, it is REALLY good. I actually couldn’t tell any difference in that or the regular hot dogs I had normally eaten.
It really helps a person on a diet to be able to eat great foods and normal foods. It is easy being on the Nutrisystem diet. There are so many options and so many meals that I can throw in my purse and can take with me. It has really been a breeze. I also have been reading my meal planner guide and getting tips and idea’s so when I am no longer on the diet, I can still continue losing weight.
For example, a great tip I learned, and now implement is how 1 Table Spoon Of mustard instead of 1 table spoon of mayo. can save you 40 calories ! That is so easy of a change.
They also provide a dining out guide and terminology that is easy to learn. It tells what is a better choice over like say, a plain hamburger or chicken nuggets.
I am really enjoying the ease of being on this diet and losing the weight! I still continue my exercise and drinking tons of water and it has really been not bad at all!

Week 3 Weigh In Disappointment #NSDiet15 #TransformationInProgress
July 27, 2010 by theplus
Well, this is week 3 of my Nutrisystem diet and I have to admit, this was a bad week for me. I was on vacation and everything fell to the wayside pretty much. I did try to watch what I was eating but I didn’t take all of my meals with me. I did take breakfasts and desserts, but we were away from the hotel for lunch and dinners so I didn’t keep to the NutriSystem foods. I did continue to drink much water and got tons of exercise because we walked and walked and walked soooooooo much. It was very hot so I was dripping in sweat every day too. But as far as my weigh in, which I had to do Sunday because I didn’t have a scale at the hotel, was very disappointing to say the least.
The morning after we got home and I stepped onto the scale, I had a gain of 4 pounds
So this week, now that I am home, I am sticking STRICTLY to the Nutrisystem diet. I am so disappointed in myself for such a huge #Fail.
I just ordered my 2nd month of food and I was very happy because I was allowed to choose meals I know I will like. I am not really into much of the hispanic or spicier foods and also I am not a huge fan of chocolate. Don’t get me wrong, I eat chocolate, but I am more of a chip (salt) eater.
My new found love has recently been granola. It is so good and filling. I love granola with cranberry bars or any kind of granola with fruit. I also have recently become a big fan of oatmeal. I have always liked Oatmeal, but have started eating it much more recently.
So, I will let you know on Friday how well I do this week. Stay Tuned!!!

1 Week Down, Many To Go #NSDiet15 #transformationinprogress
July 10, 2010 by theplus
It has been a week now since I started on my Nutrisystem Diet. The weigh in is in and I lost 2 pounds this week. I May have been able to lose more if I could’ve gotten more exercise in if I could’ve gotten out more, but we had a heat wave in Pittsburgh last week and it was VERY hot. I did go swimming with my kids at the YMCA for an hour one day but that wasn’t much. Then that caused me to have severe allergy problems and made me uncomfortable as well.
The Nutrisystem foods I have been finding, so far, to be pretty good. My only complaint I have this week is I do not like the pretzels. But everything else I have eaten taste very good. And the main part they are very filling. I know I am eating less because I can visually see it, but my stomach doesn’t know it, because it still feels full. Which is excellent! As a matter of fact the one day I wasn’t ready to eat dinner (didn’t feel hungry yet) when my family ate their dinner. And I only had the Nutrisystem desserts 4 days. I just wasn’t hungry after dinner.
I think 2 pounds is a pretty darn good start. I am using the Nutrisystem to supplement my weight loss. I know I have to still drink tons of water and exercise more. The water I have down pat, I have been drinking and drinking it all day long.
The exercise, well, I will work on that diligently.
As far as my goal goes from when I started (prior to being on the Nutrisystem program) my goal was to lose 30 pounds before Aug. when I goto Blogher10 in NY. Well, I am past the 1/2 way mark to a 17 pound total loss. 13 pounds to go, and I have about a month to do it in.
I was racing my twitter following against my weight loss too (as some of you know) and that goal was to see if I can lose 30 pounds or reach 7000 twitter followers first ?
(I was trying to get my 30 pounds off first) but both goals make me happy and accomplished.
Well, the results for that this week are – I have 6,999 Twitter followers at the current minute!
So I think the Twitter following will be first, which is wonderful! and in my heart, I believe the 13 pounds will be gone before NY too. I just need to make it happen.
And if I lose more then that is a BONUS !!! It is like the NON- Icing on the cake !!!
I will continue to keep you all up to date with my #transformationinprogress and you can follow the hashtags in Twitter to see my tweets as well. The 2 hashtags are : #transformationinprogress & #NSDiet15. You can also see the other 14 bloggers that are on the Nutrisystem diet and see what they are saying and how much they are losing too.
Also, if you are on a journey to a healthier you, please let us know. I will help cheer you on, motivate, and keep you going. I know it is hard and I know even making the decision is hard, but nothing is harder than leaving your kids parentless or your family without YOU on this Earth because your weight kills you.
We all have our struggles, no one is perfect. And YOU CAN DO THIS. WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER. There is power in numbers and we can kick our weight to the curb together and be and feel healthier and have healthier families. It will bring a better quality of life. It will be a long hard journey but in the end, well worth it !
Love to All and if you need support, just ask!!!!

underWAY and Smart for Life Reviews and Discount Codes!
July 5, 2010 by theplus

Many of us constantly strive to reach our “ideal” weights, but navigating soccer carpools, business trips and bedtime stories often get in the way of our achieving results. Healthy eating on-the-go and exercising suffer when schedules become busier, and sorting through the plethora of products and services on the market proves an overwhelming, time-consuming effort in itself. Now with the help of innovative products from underWAY and Smart for Life, we may finally achieve those ever-elusive weight loss goals.
The underWAY supplement drink, infused with a special HeroFiber and heart-healthy vitamins, works naturally to suppress your appetite and quench your thirst. underWAY curbs your hunger two ways. Its special formulation not only takes longer for the stomach to absorb, it also slows the absorption of what’s already there, making you feel fuller, longer. What’s more, its unique ingredients stimulate your stomach, telling your brain you’ve consumed more calories that you really have which, with underWAY, is almost zero! It contains no preservatives, sodium or caffeine, with only 10 calories and 2 grams of carbs per 8 oz. serving. HeroFiber, a soluble dietary fiber, helps maintain normal levels of cholesterol, glucose and insulin that are already in the normal range.
Smart for Life all natural, 60% organic products offer great snacking on-the-go, containing necessary nutrients like Omega-3 fatty acids and HeroFiber, with zero trans fat and making you feel fuller, quicker. Adopting a new 7-meals-per-day schedule featuring 6 cookies or products plus a balanced dinner allows your body to maintain steady blood sugar and glucose levels, and to burn more fat for a longer portion of the day. For variety, Smart for Life also offers soups, shakes, bagels, cereals, cupcakes and more.
Some additional interesting information about a recent study done at the Boca Raton Smart for Life Weight Management Center. Out of 46 subjects that visited and used a portion-controlled, protein-rich, low fat cookie with unique fiber technology, all subjects lost weight with the average being 13.1 pounds in 35 days. Five subjects lost over 20 pounds in 35 days and 20 subjects lost over 15 pounds in the first 35 days. The 46 participants lost a total of 601 pounds with one patient losing 38.7 pounds in 35 days.
You can learn more about the Smart for Life and underWAY products, developed by physician Dr. Sasson Moulavi, a board certified bariatric weight loss doctor, at www.smartforlife.com and www.under-way.com.
FROM ME :
For the past week I have been trying the underWay and Smart for Life cookies, bagels, soups, cereals, cupcakes and shakes. And the underWAY appetite suppressant supplement drinks. I can DEFINITELY say that in my experience I have noticed my need to eat has been a lot less. Also, I can say in my experience this past week I have lost 4 pounds! I have been eating less and watching the kinds of food I eat and it has been hard because this was a holiday week-end but I was still satisfied and not feeling hungry. I love the Acai-Pomegranate underWAY drink. It is really good. I do not like the grape as much as it (to me) has an after taste to it. But, on the other hand, it isn’t nearly as bad as some other drinks I have tried in the past.
I LOVE the carrot sunshine cupcakes from Thin Adventure. They are REALLY yummy, it doesn’t taste like typical diet food. It just tastes like a normal carrot cake cupcake. On the other hand I do not care for the Smart for Life Oatmeal Raisin cookies at all. I was excited for the cookies because oatmeal raisin are one of my favorites but these cookies were a disappointment to me. They left my mouth very dry and it took me a long time to finish one because I couldn’t hack it. I don’t know if they get some time to get used to or not, but I only tried one and couldn’t get myself to try another. These were my least favorite item in the package.
The healthy eating plans that the Smart For Life and UnderWAY plans follow are very easy to follow and easy to supplement in your diet. And I am WAYYY happy to get The results I got in just 1 week of being on this diet. I mean 4 pounds lost in 1 week is very exciting to me and sure gave me a much needed boost.
I cannot wait to see what this week brings me to. Stay tuned to see!

Your Shape For Wii; A Review*
March 6, 2010 by theplus
I have been using the Your Shape for Wii fitness program for a little over 7 weeks now. I can definitely tell a change in my energy and have been feeling more active. I have changed my diet and been keeping track of my calories more and have been drinking a ton of water everyday, walking, and also cut wayyyyy back on soda. My new healthier living lifestyle along with the Your Shape workouts have helped me to lose 12 pounds!
The your shape program puts a twist on all other Wii fitness programs. This one has a camera that hooks up easily to your Wii and you can see yourself side by side along with Jenny McCarthy on your television screen. It is really neat. Seeing myself on camera and against Jenny’s fit body, motivated me to work out even more and to look like Jenny as a goal.
The only problem I have run into with this program has been the camera. It sometimes doesn’t pick up my moves and so it gives some wrong results, about how accurate my moves are. I do not let it frustrate me, I just modify my moves and keep on going with Jenny and keep with the work out.
I like that I have been able to use this program in my home. I am in PA and it has been a rough winter, so I haven’t been able to get out so much to do work outs or goto the gym as much. I enjoy being able to do this right at home. It has very modern, upbeat music that you can work out to. My children have sometimes even joined in.
Another of my favorite things about this program is how it has MANY different exercises. Do not get frustrated about not getting new ones right away, the more you use Your Shape, it seems the more you get to do. It took me a little while to figure this out. Getting to do a new exercise is nice too. I like it to change it up a bit.
If your looking for an easy fitness program, this one may not be the one for you, however, if your like me, you can still do the work out with Jenny and just do it at your own pace. Then as your more comfortable with it and get better at it, you can then start doing it at Jenny’s pace. Do not think that just because this is a “game” that it is going to be an easy peasy work out, cause that is not so at all! You WILL feel the “burn” and you will sweat, and you will see results with the Your Shape.
Some other equipment that I suggest you to buy along with this game, for maximum usage would be a body ball, weights (small hand type), and a step.

* I have been sent the Your Shape for Wii by Ubisoft on behalf of my relationship with Collective Bias. I am in a 12 week challenge with a group of ladies who are all a part of Collective Bias. Your Shape Challenge Week 6 Update*
March 1, 2010 by theplus
I am at week 6 in the Your Shape Challenge. Using the Your Shape fitness program from Ubisoft on the Wii to lose weight and get healthier.
This challenge has been tough for me. As you probably already know, losing weight is not just all about exercise. It is a lifestyle change complete with an all new way of eating. Which brings us to the week 6 Challenge that we were given : Finding Healthy Snacks.
Here is the exact challenge we were confronted with :
We were all sent a gift card to cover the cost of this week’s challenge.
Your mission: Find and/or create a healthy snack for yourself each day. Use your giftcard to shop for yourself at Walmart and find some great, healthy food to snack on.
Here are the Healthy Snacks I bought :
Banana’s – which I love, and I learned as I was in agonizing pain with pulled muscles, that these help to alleviate some of that.
Craisins – I bought the regular ones. These are dried Cranberries. They were al great tasting snack (as you can tell, since my bag is empty). I also was able to use them as toppings for yogurt.
Fiber One bars – I bought the peanut butter kind. These are delish. And eating just one, was able to curb my appetite till the next mealtime. They are very fulfilling.
True Delights Blueberry rice cakes- These are so good, they have a texture of a potato chip almost and taste very blueberryish, which I love. I had a coupon for these so I picked this to try, and I was very happy with this purchase.
Nature Valley Nut Clusters – Can you tell yet, that I LOVE peanut butter? These nut clusters are very good. I love the crunchiness and they are very satisfying after just a few.
Planter’s Peanuts with Sea Salt – Again, I love nuts, and I was watching Dr. Oz the one day and he was telling how great nuts are for you, and that ones with sea salt are very much better for you than regular salt. I was able to eat these plain or use as toppings.
I think I am much more a salt eater than sweets. I am not that into chocolate, which is amazing to most people. Every once in a while I will crave a piece of chocolate or a candy bar. Chips and pretzels and anything salty is my downfall though. So that is why I tried to chose healthier snacks that had a lot of good things such as fiber, and iron in them, that were able to satisfy my “salt- tooth” at the same time.
I also bought some bottled water with my snacks and this :
A new addition to my exercise equipment that I can use with the Your Shape. A Body Ball. I haven’t tried it yet, because to tell the truth, I am feeling a bit nervous, that I will blow it us and get on it, and it will pop and I will fall to the floor on my face! But I am going to blow it up for Week 7 and get to using it. I am also excited to see what new exercises Jenny McCarthy will have for me to do on/with it. So this is my motivation.
As far as the weigh in goes for this week, I lost nothing this week
But I didn’t gain either. I must say, I was less active this week due to having to stay in because of the yucky weather here in Pittsburgh. I still did my 30 min. with the Yourshape 4 days this past week but I am thinking I need to switch it up a bit. By using the Body Ball this week, I should be able to accomplish this, plus I am hoping for better weather so I can get out and get moving more.
I think I may have done a little too much snacking this week and not enough exercising. We shall see what Week 7 has in store for me
How is your weight loss, fitness, get healthy goal going? Comment and tell me about it. How was your past week, and what are you going to change this week?

I tried to be good, I really tried*
February 15, 2010 by theplus
Well, it is the start of week 6 of my 12 week challenge using the Your Shape fitness program for Wii by Ubisoft. I totally have been trying to be good, I swear, I am trying. But.. yes the But, which will end up on my BUTT, then some things happened.
I went away to a conference. I still tried, I had water and lots of walking. TONS of walking. We were at the Opryland Hotel for goodness sake, and well, that place is HUGE. I tried to eat as well as I was able, and watch my portion sizes.
But they had goodies there, and like an alcoholic with a smell of beer passing their nose, I crashed… and well, it wasn’t pretty. Can you say Potato Bar, where yeah, you add cheese, bacon, and so many other great toppings. Then a Friday night movie night, oh my, a TABLE FULL of candy. Popcorn, and soda. I couldn’t hold myself back.
Then I come home to a winter Blizzard, and have been cooped up in my house, and arguing kids, and stress, can you say STRESS. Yeah, Stress is DEFINITELY a trigger for me to eat.
I am not a happy camper at all, but I will get my car back on the race track. I feel like one of those racing cars that crashes into the side wall at 140 miles per house, and looses it’s tires and the pit crew needs to come and fix it all up and get it going again, WHERE IS MY PIT CREW? lol
A lot of the bloggers in this challenge have gotten off track, and it isn’t a wonder with that darned conference, lol and a lot of travelling going on right now. (by the way the conference was wonderful, and I learned a ton, and yeah had fun).
So we need to be each other’s Pit crew and get the tires back on and dents pounded out, and fluids replenished (via H2O) and we will be ready to roll this week.
Week 4 for the challenge was : Steps
Steps: Did you know that 10,000 steps a day is equal to 4 miles? This week, wear your watch (pedometer) daily. Making yourself more aware of how many steps you are getting in each day may actually help you exercise more.
I didn’t add up how many I got in this week, but I know I was not the highest stepper. Although I was proud of myself, when one day I got over 11K. That was excellent for me.
Week 5′s challenge was : Get Out Side
With the Blizzard we had here in Pittsburgh, I wasn’t able to go out as much as usual, not even back and forth on errands, since the roads were a mess. So I did get some outside time cleaning off cars, and one day I went over to my moms home and trekked up a SNOWY hill up her driveway. And the snow was up past my knee’s, so needless to say, THAT was exercise.
So we are now 1/2 way through. I didn’t lose any weight this week, but I didn’t gain any either, which is amazing considering the junk I have been eating and lack of exercise. I am happy to have Jenny to at least get me moving a few times this week. Since I am inside looking at snow and ice, which is not nice, at least Jenny is prettier to look at.
So we are at the start of week 6, and I have lost 10 pounds so far. I guess I am happy with it, cause without being in this challenge, I would still be at least 10 pounds heavier. So I guess I am okay with this.
Stay tuned to see what Week 6′s challenge will be and see if I can loose a few more pounds this week. Say a Prayer for me too
This isn’t easy, even though I tried, I really tried to be good!
