Clorox is helping to make cleaning the toilet not seem so bad* and you can WIN!

The task of cleaning the toilet with having a family of 6 is very daunting. Especially right now when my daughter is still in potty training. Sometimes the little if you sprinkle when you tinkle, please be a sweety and wipe the seaty definitely applies here!

This is one place I choose not to be so green. It kills 99.9% of germs and to me having a healthier home outweighs the disposal bit of waste.

I love that this product by Clorox is so smooth and easy to use. It swishes around the toilet bowl and turns the water a pretty blue. The fresh scent is an absolute plus too. Nothing like a fresh smelling bathroom. Clorox has always been one of my favorite cleaning products due to the fresh scent it leaves behind.

Using the Toilet wand is a snap. I also love the new container they made to go along with the wand. It holds all the refills all tidy and nice, so now I wont have to go searching when I need a bowl clean! I like this much better than the old system of sticking a plastic tab on the side of the toilet and hanging the wand there. This is so much nicer looking.

Dear Daughter is 4 today!

Four years ago on this day, my first beautiful princess was born. She is the little girl I had always wanted. Even still today, she loves to dress up (except she doesn’t like getting her hair done). She loves playing with dolls and she is (usually) the sweetest little girl ever! I cannot believe today is her 4th birthday! It has been a long journey with her.

She is my fighting baby girl. She had (hopefully) her toughest battle of her life at age 7 months. When she was 6 months old after a fluke doctor appointment, Yasmine was discovered to have a brochogenic cyst in her lung. A growing fluid filled cyst. Without surgery, my darling baby girl, would not be here today. It would have grown bigger and bigger until either growing so large she wouldn’t have had enough room in her lung to breathe, or the cyst would burst and fill her lung with whatever fluid was inside. Both possibilities could potentially have been fatal. My husband and I had a tough decision to make. The toughest one I hope we will ever have to make in our lives. Should we wait or should we have our baby go through surgery. Surgery was inevitable but we had some time, it wasn’t totally emergent at this time. Knowing our daughter had this just made me very nervous, and she slept with us every night.

From the time she was born ans was with me in the hospital room following her birth, I noticed that she would stop breathing while sleeping. Upon asking doctors and nurses, they all told me some newborns do this ???, I was so scared of SIDS. After all, my 2 other children at the time, never did this??  So when they found this cyst in her lung, it all ended up making sense.  And she STILL was stopping breathing in her sleep, and it got progressively worse. Sometimes I would have to really pick her up and startle her to get her to awake enough so she would breathe again. THANK GOD for maternal instinct. This is the ONLY thing I had to wake me when she would stop breathing at night.

Since this was getting worse and keeping me up some nights out of the fear that she would die in her sleep. My husband and I decided upon the surgery sooner rather than later. The Dr. agreed. He did want to wait till spring though, so hopefully we would be out of flu season and she would be a little bit bigger (7 months old) just to be a bit safer. We agreed to it. So May of 2006 we got up extremely early and packed up our baby and trotted into the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. We waited for her to be called. We had our family there and our Pastor. Let me tell you when I say this was the hardest day of my life, it truly was. I think back to Anissa Mayhew’s post about her baby.  And how when you are in a situation like this NOTHING ELSE MATTERS !!!!

When you are carrying your baby to be prepped for surgery, when you have to hand your baby over to a doctor to carry her the rest of the way down the hall to surgery without you, when you have to answer the call in the waiting room of a hospital where the surgeon tell’s you, “We’ve made the first cut”, when you hold your breath for hours and feel the sick in the pit of your stomach because you are so worried your baby won’t make it, and you have cried so much that the tears run dry, NOTHING ELSE MATTERS.  

When you FINALLY get to go into the recover room and hold your baby, and you can feel every breath she takes through these tubes in her side and her chest is like a vacuum cleaner, and your precious baby who was born perfect, now will have scars down her body and chest. Nothing Else Matters. And then when your baby isn’t healing well, and nurses try and take blood from her head, and 6 of them come to hold your 7 month baby down to keep her still while she is screaming in terror and scared to death and being poked and prodded by a bunch of people she doesn’t know. And they say to you, “Oh she is 7 months old, she wont remember this”, and you begin to fight for her, cause she cant fight for herself, and you have not 1 oz. of energy left in your body, but you continue to fight for your baby, and tell them that now things will be done, your way. And when you have to tell the doctor, that “to you she is one of your many patients, but to us she is our only daughter” to make him understand.  And then THEN to hear, after living in the hospital with your sick baby for almost a month, hearing that she isn’t healing right and she has to undergo a SECOND lung surgery to repair the first one, where tissue has died and a hole has formed. You just want to die inside. NOTHING ELSE MATTERS.

Not to mention I missed Mother’s Day that year, and I do have 2 sons who were home, asking my husband everyday, when is mommy coming home. And… by the way, my daughter is 4 years old TODAY, and I would like those nurses to come back and explain to her that she didn’t understand what they did to her when she was 7 months old, when she has eyes of terror still today when going into any doctor office, seeing any nurses, even a dentist, and they all have to still take their white coats off before she will calm down around them. — cause I am sure it couldn’t be from the trauma they gave her.

This is the song I sung to her everyday and every night in the hospital, right after Praying to GOD that he not take my baby girl away from me:

Please don’t take my Sunshine away….

Thank God, My Sunshine, My Yasmine is 4 today !!!, She still has those, what we now call, her battle wounds. She has a story she can tell for the rest of her life. A story not everyone will understand. But certainly a story THAT MATTERS, even when nothing else does !!!
