A few months ago I had posted about the New Kleenex Hand Towels. Since then a lot of questions have come up regarding their sustainability. So they sent me over a FAQ sheet to share with all of you ;)

1.       Does Kimberly-Clark have sustainability standards?
Kimberly-Clark has long recognized the importance of corporate responsibility and integrated the concept of sustainability in our business practices.    We published our first annual sustainability report in 2004, and the reports can be reviewed at www.kimberly-clark.com.  From raw materials, our manufacturing processes, even our supply chain, we’re building sustainability into every facet of how we work.  This includes selecting suppliers that operate in a sustainable manner. To that end, we work hard to assure that the wood fiber we purchase comes only from well-managed forestlands or from recycled sources.
2.       Is conservation a priority for Kimberly-Clark?
At Kimberly-Clark, we take concern for the environment and conservation of natural resources seriously. In 2009, the Kimberly-Clark Foundation donated $400,000 to environmental causes and $550,000 over the last three years to Conservation International (CI) for a biodiversity conservation project. The project will have environmental benefits for the Atlantic Forest in Brazil, a major global pulp producing region that provides 30 percent of our fiber.
3.       Are any responsible forestry practices in place?
Kimberly-Clark has one of the most progressive fiber procurement policies in the tissue industry. We support forestry practices that help conserve valuable forestlands, respect fundamental human rights and ensure both a thriving ecosystem and a sustainable source of wood fiber for the future.
In fact, K-C was the first major tissue company to set the goal of purchasing 100 percent of our wood fiber from suppliers that gain independent certification of their woodlands or their fiber procurement activities.
4.       Why is this product necessary?  Aren’t my cloth towels acceptable?
KLEENEX® Brand Hand Towels offer a hygienic option for our consumers by providing an alternative to traditional cloth bathroom hand towels.  KLEENEX® Hand Towels– a clean, fresh towel every time™.
5.       Are KLEENEX® Brand Hand Towels made with recycled fiber?
Because of the superior softness consumers expect from KLEENEX® Brand, KLEENEX® Brand Hand Towels are made with 100 percent virgin fiber. The product’s unique, Cottony-Soft base sheet is free of inks, dyes and fragrances and is soft enough for faces yet durable for family needs.
6.       Can I recycle the Kleenex Hand Towel package?
Yes, you can recycle the carton at a facility that processes paperboard.

Get Washin’ and Dryin’ The Kleenex Hand Towel Way & WIN #KleenexSong *

A New Project I am a part of as a Song Ambassador with Kleenex, The Motherhood, and some wonderful other blogging buddies is to introduce to you the newest product from Kleenex, The Kleenex hand Towels.

Kleenex Hand towels are a more sanitary way to dry your hands then by re-using over and over the same hand towels. I know for me personally, this is a great new product that I am so thankful for. Sometimes my children get into the yuckiest stuff and they will go in and wash their hands (or sometimes not) and then wipe with our hand towels on the rack. Well, then I go in to use the bathroom, wash my hands, and then end up with gooey, yicky stuff when I use the same towel to dry with. Making me have to get out a new towel from the linen closet and re-wash my hands and finally dry with a clean towel.
It not only gives me more laundry to do, which I hate, but also wastes time and plus, I don’t like being icky, lol.

With the Kleenex hand towels, now I go in wash and every time, I can be rest assured, when I dry my hands, they will be dry and still remain clean, since everyone gets their own towels each time.
This is also a great way to reduce spreading germs.

This is not a unique idea, we use single use towels all the time when out at restaurants, at school, and in any public bathroom. BUT, this idea is unique for home use (which I love). The hand towels come in fancy boxes that currently come in tan, brown, and a greenish blue. The colors are neutral, so they can go with any bathroom decor.
They also fit right in the bar where we used to hang our linen towels, the box just slides down in.

Another thing I have found nice is, my kids would wipe their faces after brushing their teeth on my bathroom linen hand towels, so the next person who used the towel then got toothpaste goo all over them, now they can use the Kleenex hand towels, which is not only much more sanitary for them, but for the next person to use the bathroom as well.

The Kleenex hand towels are nice and soft and much better then using paper towels, like that you would use in your kitchen. When it is flu season, I actually used to bring a roll of paper towels from the kitchen into my bathroom for all of us to use, now That roll can stay in the kitchen and the 1 pull towel box dispenser will eliminate my 1 yr. old from unravelling the whole roll of paper towels all over the bathroom floor.

You can read more about the drying facts from Kleenex here : Drying Facts

Kleenex has a very cute song that kids can learn and sing while washing and drying their hands, you can download this song here : Kleenex Song

Here is a video I made of my kids with the song :

• PERCEPTION: Three quarters of Americans (73%) believe hand drying is less important than hand washing when it comes to helping stop the spread of germs.
• CDC FACT: Freshly cleaned, wet hands transfer pathogens more readily than dry hands or hands not washed at all. The residual moisture determines the level of bacterial and viral transfer following hand washing. Careful hand drying is a critical factor for bacterial transfer to skin, food and environmental surfaces.

•PERCEPTION: Most Americans (84%) say they change their hand towels for sanitary reasons yet the majority (78%) use the same hand towel in their bathroom for a couple of days or longer.
• CDC FACT: Repeated drying of hands with reusable cloth towels is not recommended and should be avoided. Only one-in-five Americans (22%) are familiar with recommendation of drying hands with a one-time use towel.

Visit KleenexHandTowels.com for additional product information, educational activities designed to teach hand hygiene (including the fun song)!

Now one of my readers will WIN a $50 Gift Certificate to Service Master (the parent company of Merry Maids). You can use it towards Maid Service or any other great service such as lawn service, Terminix, or any others they provide.
