The #YourShape Challenge Has Begun!*

The Shape that I am in is not a healthy one. I am very overweight, and I want to be and feel better inside and out.
I want to lose weight in the most healthiest way possible and I never want to consider any lipo procedure to also get rid of expensive laser liposuction cost, etc.

I have been asked to join a group of 10 woman to be a part of a fitness challenge using the Your Shape game by Ubisoft for the Wii.

I have a weight loss tracker on my right side bar to monitor my weekly weigh in’s.  I will be weighing in every Sunday to see how many pounds I have lost. I am planning on making small changes, taking one step at a time. I want to lose weight in a healthy manner. I am keeping a food journal. Everything I put into my mouth including water, gum, ice, anything counts.

My goal is to lose 136 pounds. I am very excited about being a part of this challenge and I would love to share my journey with you all. This makes me feel more accountable for my actions, and more fun to me to challenge myself.

Every week there are Challenger questions that we have to answer to give feedback about the game and how we are doing. The challenge is 12 weeks long, but I have way longer than 12 weeks to go to lose the amount of weight I need to, so I am using the challenge as my kick off to get myself prepared to continue on as a LIFESTYLE change. I know if I want to maintain my weight even after I am done losing it, I need to make a complete change, so I won’t gain it all back.

Here are the questions from week one- With my answers :

What are your expectations?
to start a work out program to begin weight loss

Why do you want to make a change?
I am obese and have a tremendously high BMI and need to get and feel healthier

What you are looking forward to most about the challenge?
the community, being with other woman with similar goals, having others rooting me on, sharing the good days, bad days, and having others help me get back on my feet

What you are least looking forward to about the challenge?
the pain, the burn, lol, being scared of failure

What are your short term goals?
getting started on a fitness plan so I can continue it on my way to losing my 163 pounds!

What are your long term goals?
losing my 163 pounds and maintaining having the weight off

Here is how week one went for me :

One week was rough, no lies. I knew it would be. I have completely eliminated any soda from my home and that was a huge step for me/us. Jenny McCarthy (the fitness partner from the Your Shape ) kicked my butt. I have found out I am more out of shape than I thought I was.  I am very un-coordinated too!

My knee’s hurt really badly after 2 of the 15 min. work out sessions. This isn’t a good sign. I could hear them crack as I did moves. I took a break the 3rd day and skipped the workout but did other things to try and burn calories such as parked further away in the parking lots at stores and also used the steps at a place where I would normally have taken the elevator. Day 4 I got back on the band wagon and did another 15 minutes. Fifteen minutes never seemed so long!

I was begging Jenny to stop by about 7 minutes into the work out! Then she started with Floor exercises this day! I was like, oh no, she didn’t just tell me to get on the floor! lol I made sure my son was nearby in case I wasn’t able to get back up! lol

I did though and all was okay ;)  I could feel the work outs, well, working on me. But not only did I feel the burn, pain, and tired – sweatty ness.  I am also happy to report, my mood was more up than down, and I definitely noticed a lift in my energy. I was happy to see this, especially so quickly. I completely disagree that smart lipo procedure, tummy tuck, ultrasonic liposuction, etc. are the best way in order to keep off the weight.

Other changes I have made are with everything I am eating. I am buying more healthier foods and drinks. I make myself  a smoothie using Genesis Today juice which are Super Fruit juices and frozen berries (not only are they good, but fun to make) . I am drinking a ton more water. I have been checking calories more on foods and eating smaller portions. I also am using Weight Watchers snack cakes to help me if I need something sweet. I also use raw veggies and apples for snacks.  I also found Propel water which is flavored which is good, so good that my children actually got a hold of some and drank it all (I must buy more)!

Although this has been a hard week. It has also been fun. The woman who are also in the challenge are wonderful and we all have been sharing experiences together, and this makes a big difference to me too.

I am so excited to report, that when I did my weigh in today…..drum roll please…… I Lost 4 pounds this week !!!! I cannot tell you how happy and excited I am. I need not to worry about liposuction costs.

Below are the other woman in the Challenge and their information to read more about them. I encourage you to check them all out and leave a comment to cheer them on. Please also feel free to comment here and tell me about any weight loss challenge you might be doing or what you are doing to be healthier this year.

  7. I’ve also started working out using a combo of my Wii Fit & a Biggest Loser DVD as well as joining Weight Watchers. My last check up revealed that I was pre-diabetic to the extreme. (Depending on the doctor, I could be called a type 2 diabetic.) I’ve lost six pounds so far. I’m not trying to lose 136 pounds like you, because I’m not sure if that is a goal I can accomplish. I’m starting with something small, like 20 pounds before my next doctor’s appointment in March. I wish you all the luck with your challenge. :-)

  8. (P.S.: How is Your Shape? I’m so out of shape that some of the other Wii exercise games just about kill me, like the one done by Bob Greene.)
