So, every Fourth of July our family has a tradition to go and visit some local festivals. One of our favorites is the Twin Lakes Arts and Heritage Festival. It is settled in a park with 2 lakes (thus the name Twin Lakes) in Westmoreland county, PA. It is about a 45 min. drive from our home, but is so worth it. They have multi-cultural foods, crafts, shows, a fiddling contest, a kids area, an art show and contest, and so many other booths to choose from. It is a fun day away with the family and it is covered with tree’s so it doesn’t get as hot there either. You can even rent a paddle boat or canoe and go out on the lakes.
The only downfall of the festival is the bathrooms. As you may know many of these types of festivals have Porta Johns as their bathrooms. This I do not like. I just always feel icky using one, so I am sure to take my hand sanitizer and baby wipes along with me to assure as much cleanliness as possible. I mean, who wants to eat after using a Porta John?
This festival does have a couple of indoor plumbing bathrooms open, but they are on either side of the park and usually the lines are crazy long. And with children, you know how they wait til last minute to go.
