I am so excited to tell you that I have been asked to participate in this Great campaign:
Just in time for Spring!!!! I will be featuring a lot of great Spring cleaning products this week and to kick it all off I bring to you the “Spring Into Action” presented by Aller-Ease campaign!
I was chosen as part of a great group of 15 top mom bloggers to help bring this great info. and 2 great giveaways to you. This campaign is also teamed up with “The Motherhood”.
I must say, I do not like to clean but the newness of Springtime just instills a Bug into me to have my house freshened up and get it ready for the wonderful Summer to follow. It is a way of bringing a sense that Winter is finally over and when everything outside starts to blossom and bloom, I like to think the inside of my home smells and looks so fresh too.
It is time to clean out the cobwebs, dust mites, dander, mold, and any other things that can cause allergy problems in your home.
My family is SUPER SENSITIVE to many things, and ALL of our allergies flare up in Spring. My son who is 10 has extreme eczema has had allergies from birth. My husband is super sensitive to dust mites and cats. And I am allergic to any pets, dust, pollen, and ragweed. I try to search for ways to reduce or eliminate dust and anything around my home as much as possible. So you can imagine how excited I was to be apart of this campaign and to learn more techniques and about products to help me and my family, and also to tell others about them to help them and their families.
The products I received from Aller-Ease were 2 pillow protectors, a mattress cover, and a Aller-Ease pillow. I immediately put the pillow covers on one of my pillows and on the new pillow and started using them. Then I also covered my mattress too. The covers are all white and crisp and the pillow is sooooooo nice and comfy. I am all about pillows. Which with allergies isn’t always a good thing because mites thrive in them. But with the Aller-Ease protective covering I no longer have to worry as much.
When Spring cleaning I always go through my children’s rooms too. I get rid of stuffed animals that were collected in the previous year. The “Special” ones I wash in hot water. This is just one of the many things I do while Spring cleaning.
Aller-Ease would like to know what cleaning tips/advice you do that you will share with other moms and families for a chance to win a great gift basket. Which cleaning supplies do you love and cannot do without? Are you a “Green” Spring cleaner? Do you go through bottles of Clorox and pine sol ? What cleaning tips were passed down to you from your mother and grandmother? Aller- Ease & The Motherhood want to know! (and so do I).
From all of your tips Aller-Ease will be putting together “The Best Spring Cleaning Tips of All Time” tip sheet.

In Spring, I throw open all of the windows to air out my home. While open,I wash the windows and walls of the rooms that I am working in.This airing out helps to chase any lingering odors and leaves an oh so fresh smell.Mmmmmmm so Spring!
I vacuum my mattress and wash all of the bedding. If you aren’t allergic spray your mattress and pillows with you favorite scent.
I clean or change the filter in the air conditioners before using them for the first time (just as you would periodically do all summer and winter for your furnace).
I go room by room and empty the closets and drawers and decide what I’m keeping, what I’m tossing, what I’m donating.I then wash them out, reline, and refill.Alot of work but very fulfilling at the finish!
If you have pets, Spring clean for them, too. My pets aren’t allowed in my bedroom for allergy reasons, but I do wash their pet beds and spray with a spray that reduces their allergins. Many are on the market and you just have to find one that works with you.By the way, I do this periodically throughout the year.I vacuum daily also.
The key to good cleaning and organization in any busy household is that you get a good label maker, you make sure everything in your home has its place and then you label that place so that things can easily be put back by anyone in the home that uses them.
Use shaving cream to clean furniture, carpets, rugs (not delicates that will easily fall apart) instead of having to pay to get it cleaned or buy new ones. Stains come out and it smells good too (not for deep stains).
Best window cleaner ever. Take 1/2 cup of cornstarch and mix with a gallon of water. Mix very good, then you can either pour some in spray bottle or you can pour some in a container. Then start cleaning. Really good stuff. If you have really dirty windows you might need to do a couple of times. Good tip for going green, also.
To get rid of the musty smell in your washer, especially if front loader. The Maytag Man told me to run powdered dish detergent (any brand) through my machine once a month (with no clothing in it) and it would do away with the smell. It has worked for me. Hope it works for you!
Fast and easy way to clean your freezer, use a fan. Simply empty the freezer and direct at top speed in front of a stand up or on top of a chest freezer. The frost will melt in a matter of minutes! No need to wrap the food to keep it frozen as it will be returned to the freezer in less than 1/2 hour.
To clean fabric lamp shades, use a lint roller. Can also be used to clean carpeted stairs.
A green way to clean kitchen or sink drains. First we use a plunger to loosen the clog enough to get the water to drain, then we pour 1/2 a box of baking soda in the drain, followed by white distilled vinegar. I’ve never measured out the amount of vinegar I’ve used, but know it is 1/4 of a large bottle. Wait 15 minutes and add another splash of vinegar followed by running very hot water for 5 minutes.
