I am so excited to tell you that I have been asked to participate in this Great campaign:
Just in time for Spring!!!! I will be featuring a lot of great Spring cleaning products this week and to kick it all off I bring to you the “Spring Into Action” presented by Aller-Ease campaign!
I was chosen as part of a great group of 15 top mom bloggers to help bring this great info. and 2 great giveaways to you. This campaign is also teamed up with “The Motherhood”.
I must say, I do not like to clean but the newness of Springtime just instills a Bug into me to have my house freshened up and get it ready for the wonderful Summer to follow. It is a way of bringing a sense that Winter is finally over and when everything outside starts to blossom and bloom, I like to think the inside of my home smells and looks so fresh too.
It is time to clean out the cobwebs, dust mites, dander, mold, and any other things that can cause allergy problems in your home.
My family is SUPER SENSITIVE to many things, and ALL of our allergies flare up in Spring. My son who is 10 has extreme eczema has had allergies from birth. My husband is super sensitive to dust mites and cats. And I am allergic to any pets, dust, pollen, and ragweed. I try to search for ways to reduce or eliminate dust and anything around my home as much as possible. So you can imagine how excited I was to be apart of this campaign and to learn more techniques and about products to help me and my family, and also to tell others about them to help them and their families.
The products I received from Aller-Ease were 2 pillow protectors, a mattress cover, and a Aller-Ease pillow. I immediately put the pillow covers on one of my pillows and on the new pillow and started using them. Then I also covered my mattress too. The covers are all white and crisp and the pillow is sooooooo nice and comfy. I am all about pillows. Which with allergies isn’t always a good thing because mites thrive in them. But with the Aller-Ease protective covering I no longer have to worry as much.
When Spring cleaning I always go through my children’s rooms too. I get rid of stuffed animals that were collected in the previous year. The “Special” ones I wash in hot water. This is just one of the many things I do while Spring cleaning.
Aller-Ease would like to know what cleaning tips/advice you do that you will share with other moms and families for a chance to win a great gift basket. Which cleaning supplies do you love and cannot do without? Are you a “Green” Spring cleaner? Do you go through bottles of Clorox and pine sol ? What cleaning tips were passed down to you from your mother and grandmother? Aller- Ease & The Motherhood want to know! (and so do I).
From all of your tips Aller-Ease will be putting together “The Best Spring Cleaning Tips of All Time” tip sheet.

My favorite spring cleaning tip is simply declutter as much as possible…get rid of as many things as you can that you no longer use & pack away as much as possible…you will have a happier summer if you have less stuff to clean

This might sound strange but my absolute favorite cleaning product is baking soda. I could not live without it. I have well water & it turns my bath tub orange…baking soda is a miracle cleaner in the tub

Unfortunately (for me), my best tip is good old fashioned elbow grease, coupled with ‘gotta get it done’… it’s SO hard to get started, but once I’ve started, seeing things look clean, picked up and right again helps motivate me to keep going.

Favorite Cleaning Product #1 Bleach
Favorite Cleaning Product #1 Scrubbing Bubbles
Favorite Cleaning Product #3 vinegar
Favorite Cleaning Product #4 Windex
Favorite Cleaning Product #5 409
Spring Cleaning Tip Vacuum every day
Spring Cleaning Tip put 1/2 gallon – gallon of vinegar in dishwasher each month on a cycle to keep clean
Spring Cleaning Tip put 1/2 gallon – gallon of vinegar in empty washing machine and run a cycle on highest temperature setting each month to keep clean
Spring Cleaning Tip Change furnace filters at least every 3 months
Spring Cleaning Tip Leave bleach to soak on any mold overnight to have most effect
Spring Cleaning Tip When you flip the mattress every 6 months, strip all of the linens (bed skirt, etc) for cleaning
Spring Cleaning Tip Remove the drawer of stove to clean under the stove
Spring Cleaning Tip Spray inside of microwave with cleaning product, turn on microwave for approx 30 sec to allow warm moisture to help loosen sticky foods
Spring Cleaning Tip Leave dishes with starchy foods (e.g. oatmeal) to soak before rinsing and placing in dishwasher
Spring Cleaning Tip Change habits: leave shoes at the door to not track extra dirt into home
I use the three bin system to go through closets, drawers and cupboards. One bin for keep, one for trash and one for donate. It helps to de-clutter
To get the grout on my counters especially clean and non toxic I use vinegar and baking soda.
Cut a lemon in half, put the pieces in a microwave-safe bowl with water to cover, and cook on High for two to three minutes in the micro. The steam will soften hardened food inside the oven while you enjoy the citrus scent.
I have a retractable clothes line that I use to hang up my area rugs and give them a good airing out on a nice sunny spring day.
Hopefully cold and flu season is over, but I go through the medicine cabinets to get rid of any expired medications.
Just learned how dirty kids bath toys, so I recently ran all mine sons toys through the sanitize cycle on the dishwasher.
To clean the upholstery of unwanted odors sprinkle stale cushions and chairs with baking soda, then vacuum after letting it sit for a while.
Vacuuming before cleaning will make the cleaning process easier and faster. Use your vacuum’s crevice attachment to get into tight spaces and reach under cabinets.
To clean under the fridge try a sock attached to a measuring stick.
I recently purchased the shark steam cleaner for my hardwood floors and I am loving it. No chemicals and a great clean.
I bathe my window blinds every other year. I vacuum the blinds first to remove as much dirt as possible. Then dip them in water mixed with a few drops of mild dish soap. The bathtub works well for this type of chore.
To clean the winter odor out of carpets try sprinkling plain baking soda on them. Use a clean spice container that has a removable lid with holes, and cover all of the carpets with a light dusting of baking soda. Allow the baking soda to remain on the carpets overnight, and in the morning, vacuum away the odors.
Dirty window screens can be easily cleaned using a steam cleaner
One of my favorite cleaning products is Simple Green
Although not a green product I like the Magic Erasers by Mr. Clean. great for cleaning all the white trim and walls.
I also like using baby wipes when i want to do a quick wipe down of my white doors.
Tip is to break it into smaller parts such as clean one room at a time.
Avoid toxic chemicals.
I like clorox wipes.
Sometimes it is good to clean with plain soap and water
You can re-use your laundry sheets as swifter pads.
