This Valentines Day, I have decided to be frugal. I certainly do NOT need candy and neither does my family. My hubby is allergic to flowers, so I rarely get them, but that is okay because they always die too quickly anyways, I rather have my garden full when Spring comes. I don’t need balloons or jewelry, so I have been thinking, What can I do to make THIS Valentines Day Special and memorable one, without spending a ton, and by celebrating LOVE, which is what the holiday is about, right ?
I decided to celebrate by sharing TIME. Time with my family is more precious than any gems, more rich than any chocolate, gets me “higher” than any helium of any balloons, and usually, they smell better than any flowers, lol.
My hubby and I don’t get a lot of time together, he works two jobs, so I don’t have to work. I spend a lot of time with my children, but it usually isn’t the quality time like I like to spend. We are usually rushing somewhere, or sitting on computers, or doing homework, something like that, so I decided that we could have fun while learning, and playing. And at the same time we would be spending that quality time together.
We are going to play a few board games together and read some new books we recently got. Then I am going to have my sons (ages 12 and 9) play their instruments and give me a duet. My oldest plays violin and my 9 yr. old plays viola. Then I will ask my hubby to join in on piano. We are a very musical family, except me, but I can sing, well, I THINK I can sing, lol
I am getting excited just writing about how my Valentines Day is going to be. I hope you all have a Very Happy Valentines Day too.

My plans for Valentine’s Day were to spend time with my two loves. My fiance and my son. My son and I made breakfast in bed for my hard working fiance. Me and my son had dinner and ice cream while my fiance worked the night shift.

Hmmm…don’t know if this counts but for V-Day I slept in sorta (still had to do morning feeding of nursling), got to hit the clearance at the LOFT outlet, and was taken out to Indian food. Yum.

For Valentine’s Day, we actually went an inexpensive meal at Chickfila with our daughter and let her play on the playground for as long as she wanted. Good times.

For valentine’s day, we had a sick child, so we had a stay at home dinner at the table after she went to bed. We even pulled out the candles! On the brighter side, it was a lot less stressful than all of us going out!

Well, we had big plans for Valentine's Day, but our babysitters fell through (my parents) because they had to have their beloved dog of 12 1/2 years put to sleep on Valentine's Day. It was such a sad day! We cried all day. So, we just stayed home & my husband rented a movie, but I wasn't interested in watching it because my mind just kept going back to my parents & their little dog! It was no fun, but at least I was with my hubby.

Our Valentine’s Day was pretty slow – with a three week old baby, 15 month old, and 4 year old in tow. We did a little shopping and went to dinner for the first time as a family of five, and it went really smoothly. The day was a success!
