I would love to share with you all a great event that was at Blogher this year. I was unable to attend due to being at another event, ahhh so many. But it looks like I missed a really great time, and a lot of my great bloggy friends were there as well. There is just so little time during Blogher to do and see and make it to every event.
But look at all the great fun I missed :(

I did get to see the great items that they now have out at another event I attended. They are really nice new options.
I hope to be working with and sharing more with you from Hanes SOON!

Fashion To Figure ~Dress Review

July 28, 2010 by theplus

Fashion to Figure is a womans full figure clothing company. They carry very trendy and fashionable clothes for plus size women at great fashion prices.  They recently sent me  THIS DRESS to review for them. I love the dress. It is made with 100% polyester. It is sparkly (the picture doesn’t do it justice) and I was extremely excited about the dress. But when I went to try it on, it didn’t fit :(

I was really upset because it is a beautiful dress. I contemplated sending it back to the company but I love it so much, and since I am on the Nutrisystem Diet, I decided to make it my “goal dress”.  I think if I can lose another 10 pounds, it will fit. It is mostly tight around my chest. (darn boobs!)

This dress is a great steal right now too, cause it is on sale for only $9.99 !!!! But even without the sale it was only $25 to begin with which is still a great price, no an EXCELLENT price, especially for a Plus Size Dress !!!

To see some more beautiful dresses they carry  and all the other clothing just visit : www.fashiontofigure.com

and I promise when this dress does fit, I will post a picture of me in it, so you can know I reached my goal to fit it ;)

*Disclosure – I was sent a dress from fashion to figure to review. All of the thoughts & opinions on the dress are my own.

Back To School With “Pure Energy” Clothing From Target, A Plus Size Teen’s Review

July 27, 2010 by theplus

I was recently asked to review the Pure Energy clothing that is in Target stores. These are the new Fall picks for them. I also asked that my Teen reviewer get to review some pieces as well so I could provide you with a Teen’s Take on these Fall Fashions just in time for Back to school. Here is her Responses:

Plaid Ruffle Shirt -

I think this shirt is almost perfect! I love the color combination! I also like how it fits and looks. The shiny threads add a little edge to it. There is probably only one thing i would change on this shirt, and that would be to add one more button to the top so in case some feel exposed because it cuts low. But otherwise its perfect; I would LOVE to have more shirts like this in different and maybe brighter colors. Such as Pink, Light Green, Yellow, or colors like that.

Plaid Woven Shorts -

These shorts are awesome!! The fabric has a PJ like feel but they look like just regular shorts! They are soo comfortable. There is only 2 things; they run big in sizes, and the pockets aren’t deep enough for my cell phone (ENV2), my iPod Touch, and a few dollars. But other then that I love the color! I also think the length is perfect just as it is about to get very hot in the summer.

Two Fen Dress (Butterfly Print) -

This I must say was not a favorite. The pattern didn’t really appeal to me. I think it would look better if the whole thing was butterflies rather then, just half, and if the straps were skinnier. This was also big around my stomach and the waist band was just to high. But I did like the length and the colors. The colors were bright and I always like bright colors.

You can see more and learn more about Pure Energy HERE.

You can also see the collection at Target HERE.

I am really impressed with the Pure Energy line of clothing for Plus Size Woman and Teens. It is so refreshing to know that there is an affordable clothing line for Plus Size Teens and Woman.  Pure Energy has stepped up to the plate and really gives us options from casual to classy. I will be writing my personal review soon on the Plus Size Womans clothing. So stay tuned!

Swim Suit Season is Upon Us & WIN

June 24, 2010 by theplus

Swim suit season is upon us and many Plus Size will again be deterred from buying a swim suit. You see, as a plus size woman, it is VERY hard to find a swim suit that is comfortable, fits right in all the right places and gives appropriate coverage to hide the wrong places. It is a shame that many Plus Size woman will not enjoy a dip in the pool this summer because they feel too ashamed to shy to put a swim suit on.

Well NOT THIS SUMMER !!! Ladies, I found an awesome place that caters to our needs. I found a lovely bathing suit that covers me over my thighs with a cute trendy skirted bottom and the cups in the chest area are not too big. (Usually when I wear a swim suit the cups float up and the girls fall down, if you catch my drift ;)

This suit isn’t your grandma’s bathing suit. It is stylish and in a beautiful pink floral print. And  I know , I know, your thinking floral print, right? well I don’t usually like big floral prints myself, but I like this one. It is stylish. It makes me feel comfortable and contained and I feel very confident wearing it.

You can check it out here : http://www.swimsuitsforall.com/products.asp?product_id=104728&dept_id=100059&parent_id=100000#back It is the Beach Belle Flower Burst Plus Size Empire Swimdress Swimsuit.

Now when Swimsuitsforall.com approached me about trying one of the new Beach Belle plus sized bathing suits, I must admit I was skeptical. I do not usually buy a bathing suit online, mainly because I want to try it on to make sure it fits me right. But swimsuitsforall.com has Swimsuit specialists who are available to personally assist in the search to find the perfect fitting
swimsuit for your specific body type. And a bonus, you can browse their site and shop in your own home!

But don’t just take my word for it. You can use the code : Mommy15 when shopping at swimsuitsforall.com and you will save 15% off of your swim suit purchase.

Swimsuit Trends and Tips from Moshe Laniado & A Discount Code

June 23, 2010 by theplus

Swimsuit Trends and Tips from Moshe Laniado, founder of Swimsuitsforall.com

COLOR! COLOR! COLOR!–Time to break out the pretties! While everyone has the L.B.S. (Little Black Swimsuit) in their wardrobes, it’s high time for color. Most skin tones look best enhanced by colors, not black. Recognize what you’re wearing when people pay you compliments. Chances are it’s the color that’s making you glow. Look for swimsuits in similar tones.

TWISTS & TURNS–Very much like the goddess trend in evening wear, the draped and shirred swimsuit is very hot right now. Luckily for us, it’s also VERY forgiving. They create soft curves and force the viewer’s eye to travel along the shirring and not settle on one area. It’s elegant camouflage!

GIRL POWER–Feminine touches are really strong this year. Skirted looks, ruffles, bows and all ladylike details are in style in sportswear and swimwear as well. Look for pretty, feminine prints if you prefer a sleek silhouette.

RETRO STYLING–One current trend in swimwear is more coverage. Think 40′s pin-up. Very sexy, very powerful, fully covered!  Accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative by creating a long, lean look. A sweetheart neck maillot, or skirted tankini can is flattering and still quite chic.

Some Important tips

  1. Since all swimwear manufacturers have a different fit, be sure to bring at least three sizes of a suit you like into the dressing room. It doesn’t matter what the size number is if you look great in the suit. (If it really bothers you, remove the tag after you buy it!)
  2. Look for inner construction. Improvements in fabrications and bra components have allowed designers to offer smoothing and shaping garments that are really quite comfortable. That extra bit of confidence and support they can give is liberating!

HOURGLASS BODY TYPE

If you’ve got an overall curvy shape with similarly wide hips and shoulders but a smaller waist, a full rear and thigh, and slim and shapely lower legs, your figure is considered hourglass shaped. Look for swimsuits that keep the eye busy, and especially any suits that accentuate the waist. The best swimsuits for women with the hourglass body type tend to have halter tops, V-necks, allover prints and side details, which highlight the curves and give good accent to the waist and legs. Any style of suit works fairly well with the hourglass body type.

SQUARE/RECTANGLE BODY TYPE

This body type includes women with a bust, waist, and hips of a similar size.  If you consider your figure as “boyish”, it can be very beneficial to your figure to create curves by trying halter top swimsuits, twists, wraps, and skirts to add shape for a very flattering and feminine look. Look for shirring at the waist and bust or pretty details like ruffles to add the illusion of curves.

PEAR/TRIANGLE BODY TYPE

For women with more prominent hips, thighs, and rear, less prominent shoulders and bust, and average to large legs, swim dresses and skirtinis can be a great way to provide balance to the figure.  Look for swimsuits that use a print or light colored top and a solid, dark bottom. Or try something with an embellished bust line to draw the eye up toward your face and shoulders. Women with fuller thighs should look for dresses, skirts, and shorts that flatter the figure, and other slimming designs include one pieces or swim dresses with princess seams and empire waistlines.

HEART/APPLE/INVERTED TRIANGLE BODY TYPE

If you have a full bust, waist, and upper back, but less full hips, a flat rear, and a pronounced tummy and midriff with slim arms and legs, you should look for suits that provide a steady balance to your body type, especially any swimsuits that can elongate your figure. Swimsuits with a built-in underwire bra and skirted bottoms can be very flattering and balancing, and wide or square necked suits can narrow the shoulders. Look for surplices to provide a longer and more balanced look to your figure, or consider blousons to camouflage and downplay your midsection while accenting your other attributes.
