This is a guest post by my husband; Dwight showing him using and talking about the STP Multipurpose Motor Treatment

The first thing I did was look at price’s and compared it to a competitors special offer.

and I found a coupon for the STP Multipurpose Motor Treatment that my wife got at Walmart when she got her last oil change.

I purchased the STP multipurpose motor treatment at Walmart for about $7.48.Then I had a $1 off coupon = $6.48 The product was prominantly displayed (not at eye level though) so I after looking around for a few minutes, I looked up and noticed the can. Attached to the product was a buy one get one free after manufacturer’s rebate coupon. Buying two, though, is a great deal since I could use one for the motor oil and the other for the gas. For the motor oil, you can use one can per five quarts (to flush) or 1.5 cans to keep the engine running smoothly. One can is sufficient for a gas tank of 21 gallons.

Using the treatment is very easy. For the gas, all I needed to do was fill my 16-gallon tank of the 2003 Dodge Stratus or for the 22-gallon tank for my 1999 Dodge Durango.

Here is a video using the STP Multipurpose Motor Treatment :

You can also view more pictures of my experience by visiting my google + photo album here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/106589458454443518601/albums/posts

For the motor engine oil, I poured it into the existing oil which should keep the engine running smoothly and cleanly until my next oil change. The work to change the oil was amazingly simple, about 5 minutes (max). I needed no one to assist me, except my two daughters (3 and 6 years old) who cheered me on and my son (12 years old) who videoed the expereince. Overall, it was a great experience.

The thought of Bugs makes me itchy and uncomfortable. Does it make you feel the same way? The recent stories on the news about Bed Bugs being in hotels is an awful thought before you go on vacation this summer. Well, I have found a product that will help you with this. It is called “Stop Bugging Me” a pesticide free treatment that eliminates and prevents bed bugs.

The awesome thing about this product is that it comes in many sizes, one of which is a 3 oz. bottle that is safe for travel by plane. You can throw it in you luggage and when you get to the hotel you can spray down the mattress, the 3 oz. is enough to do 2 Queen size beds. It retails for $7.99 which is not a lot to pay so you don’t get bed bugs, or bring them home.

There is also a 12 oz. size you can buy for $19.99. And then they also sell commercial sizes.

Bed Bugs derived from their preference for living in area’s where people like to sleep, they look no bigger than a sesame seed and are brownish/red in color. The eggs look like white rice before they hatch. The worst part (chills up my spine) they feed on human blood! ICK.

Here is a photo I found of the bed bug life cycle from www.bed-bugs-handbook.com

MYTH BUSTERS :
Bed bugs do not transmit disease and are in no way related to sanitation. The cleanest homes could have them. They do not jump or fly.

Stop Bugging Me is proven 100% effective in killing bed bugs by independent laboratories. I can be sprayed directly onto any detergent safe upholstery, including bedding linens and clothing. The spray formula is 100% biodegradable and has a pleasant botanical scent.

It can be found in many chain stores across the country, such as CVS and Walgreens.

COMING SOON:
Stop Bugging Me is also coming out with a laundry additive that is naturally derived and formulated to safely and effectively kill bed bugs and dust mites in bedding and washable clothing. This to me is a huge bonus that it will kill dust mites since many members of my family have harsh allergies and asthma.

A second product that I have recently reviewed is called ThermaCELL. This is to help with outside bugs like mosquitoes.

I don’t know about you but I LOVE spending time outside in the summer time. Watching the kids play in the yard, occasionally throwing a ball with them in a game of catch, cook-outs, picnics, and just hanging out with some family and friends. The worst thing when you are trying to enjoy the hot sunny days and warm summer nights is when the bugs come out to play. They ruin our fun times ALL THE TIME.

When I was asked to review a Mosquito Repellent Patio Lantern, I JUMPED at the chance.

Summer driving season has officially arrived and while we are all concerned with safety on the road, we often forget one of the most important components: our tires. According to a study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 660 highway fatalities are caused by underinflated tires annually.

This National Tire Safety Week (June 5-11, 2011) tire expert and Michelin subjective test driver, Sarah K. Robinson shares her tips for tire safety. She explains some of the simplest steps you can take to ensure you have a smooth, and most importantly safe, ride this summer travel season including:

Check you tire pressure – Check your tire pressure at least once a month and before and after a long trip. Tires can lose 1-2 psi per month.

Examine your treads – Always make sure your tires have at least 2/32” of tread depth (the penny trick).

Examine the wear patterns; the wear patterns can tell you whether your tires are over or under inflated and if your alignment is off.

Avoid hydroplaning – Simple adjustments to driving including reducing your speed and avoiding wet spots, especially standing water can reduce your risk of hydroplaning.

Rotate – Tires should be rotated every 6,000-8,000 miles.

Keep deepest treads in the rear – Make sure when replacing just two tires that you put the two tires with the deepest treads on the rear axle regardless, whether you have front-wheel, rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.

Have A Safe Summer!

-Pregnant Moms
-Moms with kids who get travel sick on vacations

Reeds Inc maker of natural sodas (like the Reeds Extra Ginger Brew Oprah just used in making her Moscow Mules)
They also make the new Reeds Rx a natural ginger relief remedy for nausea.

There are lots of incredible testimonials & coupons available at CVS http://www.reedsinc.com/nausea-relief-social-media/

My husband suffers from Nausea many days. He rides a bus on his work commute and the motion makes him very ill. When I had received the Reeds Natural Soda to review, when he came home from work the next time feeling sick, I handed him one to try. He said it helped him a ton. Now we keep Reeds Natural Soda on hand at all times for him.
Also, as a side note, my husband is from Jamaica and he said that Ginger is used all of the time there for upset stomach’s. So he was excited I got this to review. I am so glad I helped him find something to make him feel better after a long day at work.

Disclosure- I received Reeds Natural Soda to review on my blog at no cost to me. I was informed about this review due to my relationship with Mommy PR. All opinions and experience of this review are 100% my (husband’s) own. Results may vary with others.

– Plan a getaway… at a hotel in your own backyard. A romantic escape in your own hometown is a great way to “get away” from life’s daily stresses without having to go too far – or breaking the bank. Plus, with Valentine’s Day on a Monday this year, you can add an extra day of romance to your weekend together.

– Pack a picnic. Fill up a picnic basket with all of the foods and luxuries that you both enjoy most – think chocolates or gourmet take-out from a favorite restaurant. This allows you to spend time one-on-one, without the hassle and high price of dining at a restaurant.

– Fill the day with little surprises. Take a bubble bath, plan a movie marathon, and make a playlist of favorite songs that you can both relax to. Remember – Valentine’s Day is really about the experience and enjoying every moment together.

– Find deals that let you indulge yourselves. Look for deals that do the planning for you with some great value-added bonuses. DoubleTree by Hilton’s “Sweet Romance Getaway” package greets couples with a bottle of sparkling wine waiting in the room so you can kick off the Valentine’s Day celebration in style. Plus, you’ll even receive a full breakfast in the room or in the restaurant, and perks like early check in and late check out so you are guaranteed extra quality time with your sweetheart. And who could forget that the hotel’s legendary, warm chocolate chip cookies, are a guaranteed sweet treat for everyone at the end of the night!

Have A Great Valentine’s Day & Night Experience this year!

One of the biggest hassles that Super Bowl ticket holders will face this year is finding a place to park. Cowboys Stadium is one of ParkWhiz.com ’s most popular destinations in its national inventory of world-class venues. For this year’s Super Bowl, they’ve partnered with the city of Arlington and have over 7,000 quality spots available at over 40 licensed lots – all in convenient walking distance to the game (from 500 feet to approx 1 mile away.) Consumers can find out details about each location and even read consumer reviews on each parking area before purchasing a guaranteed spot.

On the flip side, ParkWhiz.com has also helped a lot of local businesses (in Arlington and other major cities) turn their parking lots into profit centers – even saved some of these businesses from going under. In fact, ParkWhiz has an app (The ParkWhiz Mobile Attendant app) that lets parking owners manage their parking in the field from their iPhone, Android, iPod.

And finally, For people on the go, ParkWhiz.com has a (new) mobile app that allows travelers to find and reserve parking right from their phone. ParkWhiz.com uses the phone’s GPS to automatically find nearby parking; customers can also find parking for specific events and destinations, with real-time pricing and availability information displayed on their phone. Customers can also access their existing ParkWhiz reservations through their phone, and use e-tickets at participating parking locations. The app is web-based, so drivers just need to point their phone’s browser to ParkWhiz.com . There’s no hassle of downloading or installing an app, it’s free, and it works on iPhone, Android, iPod Touch, and some BlackBerry models.

The ParkWhiz.com ‘s Advantage
Although other online parking reservation sites exist, ParkWhiz.com is the only company that is:

   1. working directly with the city of Arlington;
2. where one can purchase a guaranteed spot;
3. offering the most parking locations in a convenient walking distance to Cowboys Stadium
4. providing full refunds if your plans change

This is definitely an aspect of a main event that sometimes doesn’t even enter the event goer’s mind until they are already almost to the location of the event, then they have to scramble to find a spot, or dish out tons of money for a good spot.

Make your reservation TODAY!

Yesterday was a dim day but ended up with a light at the end of my tunnel. Yesterday I was all packed and ready to get up and goto #TypeAMom Conference when I was awakened abruptly by my 13 yr. old son who was doubled over in pain with horrible stomach pains. I had an hour until my ride was coming to get me. But at the same time, I knew I should take him to go get checked by a Doctor. I was worried it was his appendix or something. He was crying in pain,”Mommy do something, Mommy, don’t you have anything to stop the pain?” It was heart wrenching. So, I told him I will skip my trip and take you to the ER. With my family, My family ALWAYS comes first.

So we hopped in the car at 8 am and I drove him the 20 minutes to the hospital ER. Upon arriving at the ER, I noticed they were remodeling it, so there was smells of paint fumes, and loud jack hammer type noises, and faux walls put up. The parking lot was packed. I had lost all glimmer of hope to get my ride to North Carolina. So, I called my one friend (@craftymamaof4) who I was riding with. Four of us were going to go in a Chevy Traverse, which I was also so excited about. I told her, I would not be able to go, but I had to stay with my son. She was sad, but said, it’s okay…

So, I signed my son in and headed to the waiting room.

Finally after about a half of an hour, we got called to triage. The place where they screen you before you go back to the exam rooms. It was a good thing his appendix wasn’t about to erupt or something, cause, it took a HALF HOUR!

After triage, we were then shuffled back to an exam room. They got my son comfortable (as he could possibly be in such pain, which he rated a 7 out of 10 in intensity). It was cold there, the lights were bright, and it was very busy. Also, you could still hear the pounding of workers on the other side of those faux walls.

We waited, and waited, and waited. While waiting… My friend text messaged me and said the trip was delayed, because her car wouldn’t start! The car we were going to ride in over to meet up with the 2 other friends with the Traverse! I was starting to see a little sparkle of hope… maybe if I could get these people to test my son, tell me what was wrong, and I could either get him to a place where he was okay for me to leave, or if they sent him home with some meds. I may still have a slim chance to go to my conference.

Of course, if they were gonna have to do surgery or something major, I would tell my friends I still couldn’t go and leave him and to go on without me.

So, finally a Doctor came in and examined him. She pressed and prodded on his tummy, and asked him where it hurt.. The she ordered some blood work tests, and an x-ray.

So, we waited more… I was so tired and hungry by this point, and wanted to scream…

So the “vampire” of the hospital came in and took some blood. Then he was sent on to the X-ray area. The X-ray people were pretty efficient and quick. We were back in his room in no time.

I felt so badly that he was in such pain, and there was nothing I could do to help him. It was like I was helpless. So, I just kept talking to him, and trying to get his mind off of the pain. We watched some TV and he rested (or tried to).

Then we had to get moved because the room he was in had a monitor in it for your heart, and he didn’t really need that, but another patient did, so they moved us to a room at the end of the hall, where the noisy construction workers were even louder and the paint smell was even more intense. (Not a very great place to be and not conducive at all for a person in pain that is trying to relax and rest.

Not to mention, I wasn’t even the patient, and I was getting sick and a migraine over it…

So, finally the test results came back. His enzymes in his pancreas were a little elevated, but not enough that they thought he has pancreatic and he had bowel backed up in his intestines. So they told him to drink a ton of water, gave him some mild laxatives, and told him to get a ton of rest.

Around the same time, my phone started to die. But the last text I got from my friend was that they decided to give me some more time and they went to have lunch. (how awesome of friends are they? to postpone the whole trip to wait so hopefully I could still go!) So, we had to wait for him to be discharged, and then I hurriedly went home. I told my mom (who is watching them while I am away) about the prescription and what the doctor said to do, and what to look for in case he would get worse. Kissed everyone good-bye, and proceeded to take my luggage out to the front lawn to wait for my friends.

They finally called me and said they were on their way. I was finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel of darkness. I was going to make my trip after all!

So the shiny maroon Chevy Traverse pulled up in front of the house, and we got my luggage into it, and headed on the road to the Type A Mom conference in Asheville, NC !!! It was an 8 hour trip, which ended up being a little longer, so we could stop and eat, and such. We drove through the beautiful mountains, and with such great company, it didn’t feel like a long trip at all. We had great conversations, and looked at the beauty of the mountains around us, and then the sunset, and eventually the moon.

Our ears popped as we went up and down the PA, WV, TN, and NC mountains. We even got the chance to use the OnStar program in the Chevy Traverse when we noticed we were almost out of gas! lol

It was such a smooth sailing trip, once we got out of the dock of Pittsburgh…We didn’t even remember about gas until we were on “E”, lol

Here is a clip of us talking to the OnStar lady…

It was a neat experience.

So, we are finally here, in our Hotel and getting ready for the conference to start. I have already called home and checked on everyone, and all is okay. I am just so thankful for my friends,(@craftymamaof4, @Marybabysteps, and @cararolinson) and my family for making this trip possible. We had many obstacles and Mountains to climb, literally, but we made it!
