Nikon announced the Nikon Festival, an online video/film festival created for consumers and aspiring filmmakers alike. As the first company to offer video capability on a still camera (the Nikon D90), the Nikon Festival was created to celebrate HD video, inspire creativity, empower people to share their POV in 140-seconds of video, and offer a means for aspiring filmmakers and photographers to get their work seen by acclaimed film, photography and technology professionals.

Check out the Nikon Festival here: www.NikonFestival.com

Actor Rainn Wilson (The Office), internet personality Justine Ezarik (iJustine) and professional photographer Chase Jarvis have all submitted personal videos as inspiration as they will also serve as the Festival’s judging panel. What’s great about the Nikon Festival, which runs through Dec. 15, 2009 , is the fact that two winners will be awarded in January 2010. One winner will be selected by the Festival’s judges and be awarded with $100,000 as well as a Nikon D5000 Outfit to continue their filmmaking career. The Audience Award, $25,000 and a Nikon D5000 camera kit, will be presented to the video that receives the most public votes during the audience voting period.

Please follow the Nikon Festival via Twitter (@nikonfestival) and become a fan of the festival’s Facebook page.

Due to the urgent nature of this, because this festival ends on 12/15. I have decided to share this info. with you all right away. More info. from me to follow.

Good Luck in the contest !

Transparentcy & Bloggers

SuperStock_1647R-89817

You may have recognized lately that I have started to include an  ” * ” asterisk in some of my posts. Usually these are the posts where I do a review on a product. Then I tell you a bit about the product and what I liked about it, and sometimes what I didn’t.

Recently there has been a big bru ha ha about bloggers and especially mommy bloggers and transparently and the FDA.  Well to conform to be as transparent as possible with my readers I am now adding the ” *  ” asterisk symbol to any products that I review on my blog, where the company has actually sent me the product to review and tell you about. Or if they gave me a trip or provided a service for free. I usually include  in my posts that the company sent me “xyz” anyways, but now it will be real clear to everyone!

I will still be truthful in my posting as always. If I feel the product can be better or have some changes made to it, to make life simpler, I will still be letting you know. I will still be reviewing products or services that I believe will benefit you, my reader, or help others, such as a fundraising event or cause.  Just because a company sends me a free product to review doesn’t mean I am going to lie and give it hype it doesn’t deserve. After all what good would that do ?  You may go purchase that product, get it and it wont live up to what I said, all that will do is make you quit subscribing from my blog. Therefore not helping me in the long run either. Then if we don’t let companies know what changes ( in a constructive criticism way not destructive) than how can they know how or where to make changes to make us, the consumer happy ? They wouldn’t…

So, I will still be blogging about everything I usually blog about but to be transparent to you and the FDC in case they follow me, you will now just see the asterisk up in the titles of my posts. This is like a little footnote letting everyone know, that yes, I did get this product (or service) to try free from the company to review for you.

Thank you for reading this public service announcement !

The Pepperidge Farm Fishful Thinking program is thrilled to announce its sponsorship of the 2009 BowlHer event. They’re looking forward to connecting with mom bloggers one-on-one and sharing information about Fishful Thinking, a resource for parenting positive kids.

What is Fishful Thinking?
For more than forty years, the Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish® brand has been an ally to parents, spreading support and smiles throughout the generations of families who welcome the brand into their lives.

Kids today experience a great deal of stress and confront complex challenges. For most parents it’s hard to know how to best help them through these difficult times. Luckily, parents can learn simple ways to teach kids the skills that shape a positive attitude, enable them to overcome challenges and reach their full potential.

The Goldfish® brand partnered with Positive Psychology leader and mother of four, Dr. Karen Reivich, to create Fishful Thinking SM. Fishful Thinking is a program for parents that helps them to raise children who have a positive attitude and can confidently tackle life’s challenges.

Fishful Thinking is comprised of five key ingredients:
o   Optimism: Focusing on the positive things in life.
o   Emotional Awareness: Expressing and controlling your feelings.
o   Goal Setting/Hope: Finding ways to achieve your goals.
o   Resilience: Coping with life’s ups and downs.
o   Empowerment: Identifying and using your strengths and skills.

It is true that there is light in the end of every tunnel.
But there need not be any light in the end if you blindly believe that you are in the tunnel
